Victor Germain became known for his business acumen and commitment to excellence in the 1960s with his restaurant Le Fiacre in Québec City. The same attention to detail, instrumental to his success, has guided the Germain children, Christiane, Jean-Yves and Richard, as they continue to expand the business their father started.
Groupe Germain first established itself by developing such original restaurant concepts as Cousin Germain, Café Saint-Honoré, and Saint-Ô. However it was the first hotel, Hôtel Germain des Prés, and its now-famous restaurant Le Bistango, that cemented the Germain’s reputation. Since then, Groupe Germain has continued to succeed and grow in new ways. Groupe Germain has expanded with new hotels in Québec and Ontario under the Germain boutique hotel brand and has recently expanded with a new, complementary brand called ALT Hotels while exploring high-end residential and commercial opportunities.
Germain boutique hotels are known for their unique style, inspiring design and commitment to quality and personalized service. Their central location, nearby to restaurants, entertainment and financial areas appeals to both leisure and business travelers.

Also under construction is Groupe Germain’s second boutique hotel in Toronto, Hôtel Le Germain Maple Leaf Square. Located adjacent to the Air Canada Centre, the new property will incorporate many of the design elements that have become a trademark of Germain properties as well as subtle details reflective of sports and entertainment moments of the past. This project is scheduled for completion in 2009.
The trademark of every Germain establishment is its commitment to comfortable, contemporary design and impeccable hospitality.
