
Christiane Germain is Groupe Germain’s co-president and the person behind the Germain product experience. She is also in charge of operations for both the Le Germain boutique hotels and ALT Hotels brands.
Energetic, persistent, and inventive, Christiane has left her mark on the hospitality industry. She studied hotel and restaurant management in Toronto and started her career in the restaurant industry. She then expanded her field of operations by opening boutique hotels in Montréal and Toronto, while at the same time acquiring Auberge Hatley, a renowned establishment in the Eastern Townships.
She has also been involved in Groupe Germain’s newest concept: ALT Hotels. This new brand represents a fresh approach to accommodations and provides an optimal balance of design, décor and ambience at the best possible price.
In addition to running a fast-growing company, Christiane is a former president of the Québec City Tourism and Convention Board, the Québec City Summer Festival, and the Restaurant Owners’ Association, and sits on a number of other corporate boards.
Jean-Yves Germain leads development, plans financing, and supervises construction of hotel projects for both the Le Germain and ALT Hotels brands.
Trained at Institut de Tourisme et d'Hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), Jean-Yves is Groupe Germain’s co-president, overseeing the development, organization, and financing of Groupe Germain's hotels. Among his achievements are Hôtel Germain des Prés and Hôtel Le Germain-Dominion in Québec City, Hôtel Le Germain in Montréal, as well as Hôtel Le Germain in Toronto and most recently ALT Hotel Quartier DIX30.
Parallel to his career in the hotel industry, Jean-Yves is president of Casot Ltd., a Québec City company that owns and operates numerous residential and commercial buildings. He also sits on the board of directors of Institut de Développement Urbain (IDU) and is involved in a number of charitable initiatives in the community.
With a hotel and restaurant management degree from Humber College in Toronto, Richard Germain began his career in the hospitality industry as an assistant manager at Giorgio’s and Le Fiacre. He then developed his hospitality expertise at the Hilton Bonaventure in Montréal before joining his sister Christiane in managing and marketing Hôtel Germain des Prés.
When Hôtel Le Germain-Dominion opened in June 1997, Richard took on the role of manager and has led the award-winning hotel with a masterful touch for over ten years. Richard is gifted with a sense of innovation and design which he eagerly cultivates. He has managed to imbue Hôtel Le Germain-Dominion with his own personality to create an atmosphere that is dignified, generous and welcoming.
Hugo Germain, Director of Development – ALT Hotels Canada, has wagered on offering clients a refreshing alternative to traditional hotels. ALT Hotel is redefining the lodging experience so that comfort meets concept for $129 a night.
With 3 years of significant experience as a member of the team that introduced the Krispy Kreme brand to the Quebec market, Hugo participated in the opening of 5 outlets and managed the development of off-site sales of their products in large retail stores and service stations.
A recent MBA graduate of Queen’s University in Ontario, Hugo officially joined Groupe Germain in January 2006. Involved in the creation of the new ALT Hotel concept, Hugo actively participated in the design, construction, unveiling as well as the operations of the first ALT Hotel property and is devoted to making this new concept a Canadian leader in its category.
