Groupe Germain opens the first hotel of its new banner ALT Hôtels in Quartier DIX30 Montréal’s South Shore
EXPERIENCE LA VIE EN GOLD: TRENDY AND GLAMOROUS AT A MINUSCULE PRICE…
At 6 pm today, Christiane and Hugo Germain, guests, artists, and media representatives will experience LA VIE EN GOLD during the opening of the first ALT HÔTEL, a 159-room “no frills chic” hotel, inspired by the trend in Europe and Asia. Located in the heart of Quartier DIX30 on Montréal’s South Shore, where highways 10 and 30 meet, ALT HÔTEL QUARTIER DIX30 is the first of a new chain of hotels that will gradually be introduced across Canada.
ALT HÔTEL General Manager, Hugo Germain, explained that the banner is fully committed to offering first-rate establishments and services, “GROUPE GERMAIN is pleased to present a refreshing ALTernative to hotels of this category. The concept puts the accent on exceptional design and comfort – crisp bedding, down duvet covers and pillow cases, flat-screen plasma TVs, ergonomic work spaces and chairs – and attentive service, at a minuscule price.”
La vie en gold experience: flair and hospitality as expected from Groupe Germain
Guests noted the impressive multi-colour lighting and logo projections on the hotel façade from the highway crossing. After being greeted by valet parking, they walked the red carpet lined with golden human statues and entered the hotel, where appetizers and cocktails where served. After taking in the amazing view of Montréal and original multimedia projections, they danced the night away to the rhythms of reputed DJs, Champion, Maus and Jeff Gold, ALT Lounge’s DJ. Amid the gilded ambiance, the hundreds of guests in attendance were treated to the sight of a human chandelier, a human table offering drinks, a temporary tattoo lounge, and a body painting session on two live mannequins. They also witnessed urban artist ARPi create graffiti art on the 15th floor of the hotel.
ARPI – urban artist
ARPi came to GROUPE GERMAIN‘s attention when the company asked Café Graffiti to recommend a graff artist to personalize the hotel’s public spaces. After being given carte blanche, he created graffiti art in the corridors of eight of ALT’s 15 floors, the service stairs, the employee room, the indoor parking, and the 15th floor meeting room. The 24 year-old artist, who was once homeless, discovered graffiti art in 1996 and has never looked back. For the Montréaler, urban art isn’t about making city art; it’s a lifestyle born out the instinct to survive.
Casual Chic
ALT HÔTELS reinvents staff uniforms! Thanks to Parasuco’s collaboration, the employees will be wearing jeans bearing the hotel logo. The outfit is completed for women by a black jacket and gold belt and for men with a black and gold stripe shirt.
All that for only $129 dollars a night?
The new 15-storey hotel offers 159 rooms featuring queen-sized beds with duvet bedding. Both the single and double occupancy rates are just $129 per night, including an energizing breakfast to go, wireless or High-Speed Internet access and indoor parking. For an extra charge of only $30, guests can even bring their dog, who will feel right at home with his own bed and food bowl!
Interactive meeting rooms
The hotel offers 465 m2 (5 000 ft2) of care-free meeting spaces. Three of these interactive spaces are bathed in natural light and one is an open-concept mezzanine on the 2nd floor. There is also a 250 m2 (2700 fti2) space with panoramic views of Montréal, Mont Saint-Hilaire and Saint-Bruno.
Wireless and High Speed Internet is free throughout the ALT Hotel, and three of the meeting rooms have 50 inch flat-screen plasma TVs with plug and play option from the guests’ laptop. An exclusive catering service is also available.
A green hotel – an innovation in canada’s hotel business!
LeMay Michaud Architecture Design, in collaboration with the Genecor Experts-Conseils engineering firm, designed this green hotel with a series of eco-friendly systems, including geothermal heating and air conditioning, domestic water heating, heat recovery, and control switches which enable guests to remotely turn off the lights when they enter or leave a room.
ALT Boutique – the fun and convenience of online shopping
In keeping with the concept of the hotel, ALT Boutique will offer trendy yet affordablypriced products as of mid-November. Internauts can buy the golden Twister necklace worn by the front desk personnel, the Italian CALLA chairs found in all guest rooms, and sandblasted ALT glasses engraved with the banner’s emblems – the Poodle and the Chihuahua!
